All 128 civics questions and answers for the 2025 test

Here is every question on the USCIS list for the 2025 civics test, with its accepted answers.

Which test is yours

The day you filed your application decides your test. You take the 2025 test if you filed Form N-400 on or after October 20, 2025, or if you haven’t filed yet. If you filed before October 20, 2025, study the 2008 test questions. USCIS gives this rule on its Study for the Test page. If you’re not sure when you filed, check your USCIS receipt notice or your USCIS online account. Our guide to the two tests has the details.

How the test works

The civics test is oral. The officer asks questions from this list, and you answer out loud. It is one part of your naturalization interview.

USCIS encourages you to answer with the answers on its list. It also says there may be other correct answers.

Some answers change, because they depend on where you live or who holds office. This list marks them. Answer with the name of the person in office on the day of your interview, and check USCIS test updates close to that day.

If you were 65 or older and had been a permanent resident for at least 20 years when you filed, you study only the 20 questions marked 65/20. The officer asks up to 10 of them, and you pass with 6 correct. You can take the civics test in the language you choose.
